The Boy Scout Motto, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement all have one thing in common. The word prepare. The Merriam-Webster dictionary states that the word Prepare means “to make yourself ready for something that you will be doing, something that you expect to happen, etc”.

So, what does it mean to “Be Prepared”? When we used the term it has several meanings to us. First is to be prepared in mind, by having thought out beforehand any accident or situation that might occur, so that you know the right thing to do at the right moment, and are willing to do it. Second is to be prepared in body, by making yourself strong and active and able to do the right thing at the right moment, and do it. -Lord Baden Powell

How can you make sure that when the time comes you are ready to take on any challenge that arises.

  1. Regularly attend troop meetings and outings
  2. Keep current with scouting knowledge and practice skills
  3. Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others
  4. Keep advancing in scouting and set goals to accomplish tasks
Benjamin Franklin said "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."
