Hello Troop 2,

We have two important activities this upcoming weekend. Since 1928, Troop 2 has maintained and cleaned Mt. Rubidoux trails and lit those trails for visitors to the Easter Sunrise Service. Please make every effort to take part in these activities. Each participant will earn a commemorative patch and service hours that count toward rank advancement.

Mt. Rubidoux Trail Cleanup – Saturday, March 26 (8 AM to Noon)
• When: Saturday, March 26 from 8 AM to Noon (the flyer says 9 AM but please arrive at 8 AM so we can get started early)
• Where: Camp Evans (across the street from Carlson Dog Park near Mt. Rubidoux; see the attached map with directions)
• Why: Every year since 1928, Troop 2 Scouts have cleaned up and lit the trail up Mt. Rubidoux for the Easter Sunrise Services held at the summit. Over the years, this service project has expanded to include units from throughout Mt. Rubidoux District, and is coordinated by Wanakik Chapter of the Order of the Arrow. Please mark your calendars and be ready to help again this year. Please wear you Class B uniform along with boots, hat, sunscreen, water, work gloves and a rake/shovel or hoe. 5 gallon buckets for moving dirt are also very helpful. Bring lots of water to drink!!!
• Who: All Scouts are asked to attend. This is a great service project that we encourage all scouts to attend. Adults are also welcome to assist us with trail clean-up also (we could use the help on some parts of the trail).
• Signups: We need more Scouts and Adults to attend this event (especially older Scouts that have experience in this event).

Mt. Rubidoux Trail Lighting – Sunday, March 27 (3 AM to 7 AM)
• When: Sunday, March 27 from 3 AM t0 7 AM (Yes – we start at 3 AM!!!!)
• Where: Camp Evans (across the street from Carlson Dog Park near Mt. Rubidoux; see the attached map with directions)
• Why: We will be lighting up our section of the trail for people who are climbing the mountain to attend sunrise service at the top of Mt. Rubidoux. Each Scout should bring a flashlight or (small) lantern. A jacket is recommended as it will be cold in the early morning; boots are also helpful. Please do not bring camp chairs.
• Who: All Scouts are asked to attend. This is a great service project that we encourage all scouts to attend. Adults are also welcome to assist us with trail lighting (we could use the help on some parts of the trail).
• Signups: We need more Scouts and Adults to attend this event (especially older Scouts that have experience in this event).

Please make every effort to attend both of these important service projects this upcoming weekend.
